Thomas H. Cartwright, M.D. is board certified in medical oncology, internal medicine and geriatric medicine. He completed his undergraduate education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He then completed his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. His post doctorate training included completion of a residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Cartwright is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Medical Oncology, the American Board of Geriatric Medicine, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Cartwright's primary clinical interest is in cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. He is the author of numerous publications including abstracts and articles on hyperalimentation of cancer patients with protein calorie under nutrition, metastatic carcinoma of the lung, breast cancer and advanced pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Cartwright has extensive research experience. An active participant with several US Oncology trials, he has served as Principal Investigator for several studies involving colon and pancreatic cancer. Dr. Cartwright currently serves on the US Oncology gastrointestinal research committee. In addition, Dr. Cartwright is a member of USON's Disease Management Committee, Research Committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

His professional activities include membership in the American Cancer Society, the Academy of Hospice Physicians, the National Hospice Organization, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Physicians. He is also a member of numerous local associations, including Hospice of Marion County, where he served as Medical Director and President of the Board, the Marion County Cancer Society, where he served as President, Medical Director and Chairman of the Professional Education Committee. He has also served as a member of the Marion County Indigent Care Committee.

In addition, Dr. Cartwright has been Chief of Medicine and President of the Medical Staff at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Cartwright's hospital affiliations include Ocala Regional Medical Center, Munroe Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital, Seven Rivers Community Hospital and Citrus Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cartwright is a Moffitt affiliated physician.

He lives in Ocala with his wife and 2 children.
